Dr. Paige Borden was appointed to Director of Institutional Research June, 2005. She previously held the position of Assistant Director from May, 2003. Prior to Dr. Borden joining the IR staff, she held the position of Associate University Registrar in the Registrar's Office here at UCF. Dr. Borden also served as the Functional Lead during the implementation of the PeopleSoft Student Records module. She has been with UCF since 1993.

Position Specifications

  • Provide leadership to the Office of Institutional Research (IR) in the collection, interpretation and the use of institutional data in support of the University’s external reporting requirements and internal data needs.
  • Serve as the University Data Administrator:
         State University System role: Direct the authorization, development and release of university data to any appropriate requestor; including state and federal reporting entities, UCF administrators, faculty, staff and external vendors. Ensure compliance with the Public Records Act as it relates to confidentiality of data.
         Internal UCF role: Coordinate the creation and definition of new data elements with support from Information Resource personnel. Evaluate and grant approval for access to all University data systems. Coordinate resolution of access or data element disputes.
  • Serve on university committees and participate in workgroups where were IR leadership is needed or deemed appropriate (Chair of University Data Administration Committee, Co-chair University Data Administration Committee, Co-chair LEAP Standards Committee; member of SACS Compliance Certification Team, University Program Review Committee, University Data Management Committee, LEAP Steering Committee, and PeopleSoft Academic Focus Group).
  • Work with users to identify data needs, make recommendations, formulate policies and develop methods for appropriate data collection, presentation and final reporting on a university wide basis.
  • Monitor the existing data systems and data access processes, collaborate with university personnel to develop new data systems and processes that meet the university needs and facilitate the utilization of these data for decision-making purposes. This would include, but not be limited to: PeopleSoft Query, PeopleSoft Reporting Database System, Access, and SAS.
  • Develop and implement the department’s Institutional Effectiveness Plan and the department’s Strategic Plan, vision, and goals.
  • Monitor the Institutional Research budget allocations and plan expenditures for three accounts. Authorize resource allocations and the cost-effective use of funds.
  • Provide leadership to the Institutional Research employees; including seven professional positions, two staff positions and three part-time employees (Graduate Research Assistants and OPS).
